Baisakhi is an important day for the Sikh community, as it commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth, a brotherhood of Sikhs, by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. On this day, Sikhs gather at the Gurudwaras (Sikh temples) to offer prayers, sing hymns, and participate in processions. People dress up in colorful traditional attire, prepare and share traditional food, and dance to the beats of the dhol (a traditional drum).

Apart from the religious significance, Baisakhi is also an occasion to celebrate the harvest season, as it marks the time when farmers in Punjab begin to harvest their crops, particularly wheat. Therefore, the festival is a time for people to come together, celebrate, and share their joy and abundance.
